Inspired by yesterday's awesome article, I have spent WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much time on Carmax finding near-super car performance that Carmax will soundly regret selling me. Rule #1 sub 50K. Rule #2 you would have to be willing to pay the normal maintenance that falls outside the extended warranty. That's it- let's ruin Carmax's Q1 financials!
My entry:
2005 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG 2D Convertible
http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/…
Why selected:
Engine6.0L engine
Cylinders12 cylinders
Horsepower604 horsepower@5500rpm
Torque738 torque@3000rpm
Add in the folding metal top (better to listen to that insane engine).
And look it it- sploosh!

Note the link has a better picture, but Carmax does wonky thinks with the picture codes. And I am kind of thinking about it. Turbo V12!

#Tire Rack would be.

How much is the timing chain service charge and when is it due? That could be a real heavy standard maintenance charge.

#Not sure if my wife would be amused.
...I can't even get her on board to let me get a 20K used NC miata and a supercharger kit.

Any Land Rover product. Doug already did this with a Range Rover.
I would go with a W221 S Class, preferably with the air suspension, if I particularly wanted to screw with their financials.
Otherwise, I'd go with a Jaaaaaaaaaag XJL. Come to think of it...

For those wanting to row your own gears, go fast, look like a boss AND make the Carmax CFO cry bitter tears of defeat:

If you really want to ruin their financials I would suggest trying to break the hard top on one of these:

I imagine I wouldn't have to try too hard. Not sure I want to actually drive one. That AMG would be fun and bankrupt them.
